Lake View Hospital Earns ‘A’ for Inclusivity on National Ranking

Two Harbors, Minn. – Lake View Hospital has achieved an ‘A’ grade for success at serving all patients in its community on the 2023-2024 Lown Institute Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility.

Lake View Hospital ranked 7th out of 106 hospitals in Minnesota and 382nd out of 3,533 hospitals nationally on Lown’s Inclusivity metric.

“We value not only talking about inclusivity but actively practicing it,” Lake View Hospital President/CEO Greg Ruberg said. “Everyone deserves to have the highest standard of care so they can lead healthy and fulfilling lives.”

Lown’s Inclusivity score translates to:

Improved patient outcomes: Care that recognizes the needs of diverse populations leads to better health and well-being for all.

Reduction in health disparities: Inclusivity is a key driver in reducing gaps in access to care.

Enhanced trust and satisfaction: Patients who feel seen, heard and respected are more likely to trust their healthcare providers and report higher levels of satisfaction.

To create the independent rankings, the Institute assessed how well the demographics of a hospital’s Medicare patients matched the demographics of the hospital’s surrounding communities.

Hospitals serving more patients from communities of color than expected earned better rankings. The Lown Institute is a nonpartisan think tank that generates bold ideas for a radically better system of health.
