Great River Greening Invites Volunteers to Join Reforestation Efforts in Superior National Forest

FINLAND, MN [May 20, 2026] Great River Greening, a Minnesota environmental nonprofit, invites volunteers to join them in planting trees as part of reforestation efforts in Superior National Forest. Northern Minnesota is currently experiencing a devastating wave of eastern spruce budworm infections, contributing to an excess of downed trees that intensify wildfires. By planting climate-resilient trees and diversifying tree species, the organization aims to combat tree loss and decrease wildfire vulnerability.

Volunteers will learn about forest management strategies and lend a hand in planting native tree species near Ninemile Campground. Campground spots are available for reservation and/or first-come, first-serve basis at the site or other nearby state and federal campgrounds.

WHEN & WHERE:
Saturday, June 6, 9am-12 pm
