LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Among the many issues raised about the development concept for Lighthouse Point presented to the planning commission on January 3rd was the aesthetics of the proposed 28 townhouses themselves. Someone at the public hearing compared them to the “Minecraft houses” on London Road in Duluth, those inert-looking boxes that are gradually obliterating several previously wooded city blocks. They were used as an example of what we do NOT want on Lighthouse Point.

No one mentioned that the “Minecraft houses” on London Road are being built by that very same developer, Ted Stocke, standing in our city chambers proposing this development for Lighthouse Point.

Perhaps this fact alone will provide incentive for Two Harbors residents to turn out at the city council meeting when the next step is considered for this proposal, possibly as soon as the January 23rd meeting. That’s 5:00 pm for the agenda meeting where most of the discussion occurs, 6:00 pm for the official meeting. Please let your city councilor know, by letter, email, phone or your presence, how you feel about this change to our beloved Lighthouse Point.
