WILLIAM (BILL) NELSON

May 12, 1943 – September 22, 2026

William (Bill) Nelson passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, under the care of hospice at St. Luke’s Hospital.

He was born on May 12, 1943, in Duluth, to Lloyd and Donna Nelson. His early years were spent in Morgan Park, Wenatchee, Washington, and Babbit. He and his family moved to Silver Bay in 1956. He was a 1961 graduate of WM Kelley High School. Following graduation from UMD, he enlisted in the USAF. He served in Illinois, Vietnam, and Texas. Afterwards, he returned to Silver Bay where he met Susie (Anselment), his wife of 51 years. He retired from North Shore Mining in 2007.

He is survived by Susie, his beloved daughter Blythe and her husband Brett Brislance, and his cherished grandchildren, William and Aubrey. Other survivors include his sister, Teri Thierer of Embarrass, his Anselment family, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Laura LaBelle, and in-laws, Lee and Barbara Anselment.

Respecting his wishes, no services are planned. Remember him by being grateful for the simple things; an early morning walk, a bike ride on a perfect fall day, getting your hands dirty in a garden, candy, books, pizza, and more candy. He was so loved and will be so missed.
