To my beloved Mike J. VanHorn. Thinking of you today, it has now been one year, June 22, 2026. While the grief is still heavy, my heart is overwhelmingly grateful for the beautiful life we built over 36 years, with deep love and our family that values culture and the American Spirit. You are so missed, but you will always be a part of everything I do.
I wanted to take this opportunity to express my utmost gratitude to our community here in Two Harbors and to our family members, including nieces and nephews in UT, OR, WA, WI, HI, Guam and Chuuk State, Federate States of Micronesia. A special thank you to my next door neighbor, who I consider family, and my handyman. To the churches, Holy Spirit and United Church in Two Harbors, and Pilgrim Church in Duluth who went out of the way to make sure I received the support I needed to maintain my dignity. To the Two Harbors Police Department , Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and MN State Patrol; Lake County Courthouse, Veteran’s Service Office, Community Partners, Two Harbors Public Library, Ruth and Joe Henry from Duluth, Sr. Kathy from St. Benedict’s in Crookston for the ongoing Mass, candles and prayers, Jim and Jenny Shogren, Alex and Karen Cavallin and all those I didn’t mention but know in my heart, THANK YOU for your kindness and support during this hardship and ongoing loss.
Two Harbors is truly home and the historic Lighthouse is a beacon of light in the dark of misery. Thank you all!!
A special thank you to Aaron, manager at the cemetery and Duluth Monument Company for putting great effort into building and installing his headstone.
Mike and Enzo, you will always be forever missed and always loved.
