Brother, Son, Friend, James Andrew Benassi, 64, died Sunday, July 30, 2023, in Duluth, of complications from Diabetes.
Jim was born on May 15, 1959, growing up in Silver Bay, the son of Frank and Carmel Benassi, and the oldest Brother of five siblings, Bernetta 65, Steve 63, Mark 62, and Bill 59, who all survived him.
Jim’s family was close and loving, walking to and racing back from Church every Sunday, riding our bikes around town and in the woods, exploring trails and ridges on the edge of the wilderness across the street, eating birthday cakes, celebrating Christmas, Easter, Halloween, visiting Grandma, swimming, eating out, going to movies, and playing Kickball in the backyard.
Jim overcame Epilepsy in Elementary School, played Football in High School, and graduated with a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Jim worked in Minneapolis, on the North Shore, and then retired in Duluth, living at Midtowne Manor overlooking St. Louis Bay. Jim’s ashes were scattered at his parents’ gravesite at Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery, and at Bean Lake. Jim’s family would like to thank the Duluth Housing Authority, St. Louis County Social Services, Hilltop Healthcare, and the many dedicated doctors, nurses, and public servants who made a positive difference in Jim’s life.
