North Shore Health’s O’Neil, Pankow Awarded Healthcare Administration Scholarships

Two leaders at North Shore Health are expanding their administrative expertise thanks to regional healthcare scholarships.

Patrick O’Neil, Director of Rehab, and Karla Pankow, Director of Emergency Medical Services, were recently awarded scholarships from the Minnesota Hospital Foundation and the Minnesota chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). The program recognizes rising leaders committed to advancing their skills in healthcare administration.

Both directors are nearing the completion of their Master of Healthcare Administration degrees. The coursework focuses on how strategy, finance, workforce, quality, operations, and local needs intersect to drive organizational decisions.

“One of the most rewarding parts of the past two years has been being able to apply what I’m learning directly to the work we’re doing at North Shore Health,” Pankow said.

O’Neil added that he feels optimistic about the future of local healthcare and “the skills I have gained to address our community’s ongoing healthcare needs.”

Hospital officials noted that having two staff members earn the regional recognition highlights the dedication within the facility as it works to improve care access across Cook County.
