The Lake County Planning Commission sat in session at 5:00 p.m. on this date and conducted hearings and other business.

I-24-006i– Motion by J. Ernest is sup­ported by B. Ernest to reconvene the In­terim Use request from the April 15, 2024 Planning Commission hearing. Motion by Goutermont supported by Unzeitig to rec­ommend denial to the County Board for an initial interim use application for a vacation rental home filed by Taylor and Charissa Hall at 960 Deerview Lane, Two Harbors MN 55616. The property is described as: N 300 ft of SW 1/4 of SE 1/4 less W 660 ft in Section 9, Township 52, Range 11, 5.0 acres, zoned non-shoreland, R-2/ Resi­dential District, 5-acre minimum, Unorga­nized Territory #2. PID: 25-5211-09860. Motion carried; Goutermont, Bathke, Unzeitig, B. Ernest, and Ellefson voted in favor; J. Ernest opposed. (PCR-24-006)

I-24-009r– Motion by Unzeitig, support­ed by Ellefson to recommend to County Board 5-year approval with modified con­ditions of a renewal interim use application for a vacation rental home filed by Mavrik Joos at 770 Larsmont Rd., Two Harbors MN 55616. The property is described as: N 1/2 of W 1/2 of SW 1/4 of SW 1/4 of SW 1/4 in Section 16, Township 52, Range 11, 2.5 acres, zoned non-shoreland, R-3/ Residential District, 2.5-acre minimum, Unorganized Territory #2. PID: 25-5211- 16655. Motion carried; Goutermont, Bathke, Unzeitig, J. Ernest, B. Ernest, and Ellefson voted in favor; none opposed. (PCR-24-010)

C-24-003– Motion by Unzeitig sup­ported by J. Ernest to approve a condi­tional use application for a construction of the multi-purpose gathering space with a focus on the community’s railroad his­tory, and Scandinavian culture through exhibits featuring the commercial fishing boat, “CRUSADER II” and the Viking ship, “LEIF ERIKSON” with conditions filed by the St. Louis and Lake Counties Regional Railroad Authority and the Knife River Heritage Cultural Center at 180 Marine Rd., Knife River MN 55609. The property is described as: SE ¼ of the NW ¼ and Govt Lot 3 as Desc in Bk of Deeds 23, pg 266 less that part Desc in Bk of Titles 53, pg 98; Twp 52, Rge 11, Sections 29-30-31 1.1 acres, zoned shoreland (Knife River & Lake Superior NSMZ), R-4/ Residential District, 2-acre minimum, Unorganized Territory #2. PID: 25-5200-31999 / 31452. Motion carried; Goutermont, Bathke, Un­zeitig, J. Ernest, B. Ernest, and Ellefson voted in favor; none opposed. (PCR-24- 011)
