CASTLE DANGER, MN — A 31-year-old worker died following a tragic industrial accident on a cell tower on Bunker Hill Road, local authorities confirmed.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving an emergency call on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at approximately 2:35 p.m. Initial reports indicated that a worker had been struck by a cable while performing tasks on the tower site.
Officials have identified the victim as Eduard Shelipov, 31, of Lakeville, Minnesota. Emergency responders transported Shelipov to Essentia Hospital in Duluth, where he was later pronounced dead.
The circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has launched an investigation into the workplace fatality. OSHA investigators will evaluate safety protocols, equipment conditions, and operational procedures at the site to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Local authorities expressed gratitude to the multiple emergency teams that arrived to assist at the scene. The emergency response included: Minnesota State Patrol, Lake County Ambulance Service, Lake County Rescue Squad, Two and Harbors Fire Department.
