Art of Kumihimo Bracelet Take & Create Kits Available at ALS Libraries January 5-31, 2026

Mountain Iron, MN, December 8, 2025 – The Arrowhead Library System (ALS) will be providing Art of Kumihimo Bracelet Take & Create Kits for member public libraries to distribute January 5 – 31, 2026. 

Inspired by the traditional Japanese art form of Kumihimo, create an intricate braided cord bracelet with this Take and Create art experience designed by Minnesota artist Jen Anfinson. Participants will learn the basic techniques of braiding with a disk, creating a beautiful cord that becomes a bracelet. Beginner artists will add their own patterns to make a bracelet as unique as they are. Welcome to your new favorite hobby! 

These Take and Create Kits are appropriate for adults, teens and children ages 11 and up. Younger children can participate with assistance from an adult. All supplies are provided in the kit and suggestions for additional materials are included. An instructional video for the Take and Create Kits will be provided for this art experience. 

Kits will be distributed at the following local public libraries and ALS outreach locations:

• Duluth Public 

• Library Ely Public Library 

• Grand Marais Public Library 

• Silver Bay Public Library 

• Two Harbors Public Library 

• Arrowhead Library System Bookmobile 

• Arrowhead Library System Mail-A-Book (*patrons must qualify for Mail-A-Book services, kit may be modified in order to deliver by mail)
