The Violence Prevention Center, located at 21 W 2nd St, STE B Grand Marais, is thrilled to announce the hiring of our new Executive Director, Sara Mowchan.
Sara Mowchan started as the Executive Director of the Violence Prevention Center in July 2025. Sara has worked in the field of domestic violence since 2018, previously working as the Director of Operations for an organization focused on legal and policy reform on violence against women and girls across Minnesota and globally. Sara has a master’s degree in nonprofit policy and management and brings over 15 years of nonprofit fundraising and leadership experience. She is passionate about driving safety, equality, and agency for all people regardless of gender or background.
The Violence Prevention center is excited to welcome Sara to their team and know her vast experience will propel the Violence Prevention Center forward.
The mission of the Violence Prevention Center is to foster a community which cultivates healthy relationships, empowers systems to serve individuals with equity and compassion, and does not tolerate violence. We serve all who have been affected by or subjected to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
