Jeff Arundel and Daniel Murphy visit local landmarks to capture the character and spirit of Silver Bay
SILVER BAY, MN. – Familiar Silver Bay landmarks will soon have a starring role in a new music video. Jeff Arundel and Daniel Murphy of The Scarlet Goodbye recently came to town to film the video for their new song, “Silver Bay,” using the community itself as the backdrop for the story.
According to Rocky Wall Entertainment President Nelson French, “The forthcoming video for “Silver Bay” will give viewers a glimpse of the places that make the community distinctive while showcasing Silver Bay as both the setting and inspiration for the new song.”
The musicians stopped at Boathouse Bay, Rocky Taconite, Rocky Wall and the Silver Bay Lounge, capturing three places local residents will recognize immediately. Together, the locations reflect the community’s Lake Superior setting, its taconite roots and the welcoming character of a favorite neighborhood gathering place.
“Silver Bay has a character you can feel – from the lake and the taconite history to the places where people come together. We wanted the video to let the community speak for itself and give viewers a real sense of the place behind the song,” Arundel and Murphy said.
The shoot put Silver Bay’s scenery and local identity in front of the camera – not as background scenery, but as a central part of the music video. From the waterfront to an iconic reminder of the city’s industrial heritage and a well-known local lounge, each stop adds a distinctly Silver Bay chapter to the visual story.
The Scarlet Goodbye performed the final concert of the 2026 Silver Bay Music in the Park Concert Series where they premiered their new song.
“Have we got one for you tonight! Believe it or not, it’s called Silver Bay,” said Murphy in introducing their new song.
Arundel added, “This is brand new, it’s not even out yet! We do know that this one’s kind of a love song. You guys got a great scene here. Beautiful. I mean, if you see what we see right here, it’s beautiful. We want to thank Rocky Wall Entertainment for having us up. We want to thank Silver Bay.”
The worldwide release of the song will be January 22, 2027, and local viewers can watch for these hometown locations while audiences beyond the North Shore get a glimpse of the landscape, history and everyday places that make Silver Bay distinctive. The project offers a timely local arts story with a strong sense of place—and gives the community a memorable role in a song that shares its name.

The Scarlet Goodbye is the creative collaboration between two well-known Minnesota musicians, rocker Daniel Murphy and troubadour Jeff Arundel. Their partnership began by chance, with Murphy—known for his seminal roles in Soul Asylum and the super group Golden Smog—crossing paths with the accomplished singer-songwriter-producer Arundel. This collision sparked a new musical journey in an attic studio in St. Paul, Minnesota, where the duo began matching musical wits and blending these distinct perspectives.
