SWIM AND DIVE
Two Harbors took second at the Section 7A True Team meet on October 10, finishing with 1,851.5 points behind Grand Rapids and ahead of a long field of conference rivals. Senior Lucy Lane set the pace, winning both the 200 free (2:07.10) and 500 free (5:43.33) to anchor the team’s scoring. She led a strong freestyle group, with Claire Dreier, Toby McDonald and Elizabeth Larson stacking points in the 200, and McDonald and Dreier landing top-six finishes in the 500.
The sprint and stroke groups held their ground as well. Brynn von Goertz placed 7th in the 50 free and 5th in the 100 free, and Rylee Schmitz took 2nd in the 100 fly. On the boards, Harper Smith earned second in diving with 310.30 points and later added another runner-up finish in the 100 back. Aria OswaldSwenson placed 9th in the 100 breaststroke.
The 400 free relay A team of Smith, Schmitz, von Goertz and Lane closed the meet with a second-place finish in 4:01.56, sealing Two Harbors’ runner-up spot in the final standings.
BOWLING
Coach Logan Fischer said his group battled a tougher alley this weekend, finishing with one match win and two losses. They dropped the first two by narrow margins, going 2–3 on the game side in both, before taking the third 3–2. Emsley Fischer stayed steady, filling 76 percent of her frames and climbing from seventh to fifth in the all-conference standings. She even posted a perfect 10-for-10 fill game. Phoenix Williams, rotating in from JV as the fifth bowler, matched Brielle Fischer at a 66 percent fill rate, with Tait Goutermont right behind at 65 percent.
The team’s high game was 216 with a low of 132. Fischer said the ball returns on the approach and a pattern that didn’t suit everyone made spare shooting the difference. The group sits fifth overall with a 155 average, still second-best in the conference. They’ll close out the regular season at home on the 24th before heading to the conference championship in International Falls.
