Lake County Toward Zero Deaths Sponsors CarFit Event!

[Lake County, MN] — The Lake County Toward Zero Deaths Coalition is bringing CarFit to Two Harbors on June 2, 2026! Developed by AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association, CarFit is designed to help seniors walk through a 12-point checklist with their vehicle, recommending minor adjustments to make their car “fit” for better comfort and safety. Occupational Therapists will help with the fitting and provide seniors with information on how to maintain good driving habits. Registration is requested, as each fitting takes about twenty minutes. And the best part – this event is free, brought to you through the work of the Lake County TZD Coalition!

The Lake County Toward Zero Deaths Coalition is part of the Northeast Region of Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) with the mission of “bringing together Education, Enforcement, Emergency Medial and Trauma Services, Engineering and more (Everyone)!” The coalition is made up of traffic safety partners from each of these “E”s to identify and focus on activities that will improve road safety in our area and prevent serious injury and fatal crashes on Lake County roads. From 2020-2024 the percentage of drivers age 65 and older in Lake County was 27.40%, higher than state average of 16.8%. CarFit is one tool that can help the senior population in Lake County stay safe behind the wheel.

Join us on June 2! Call or email to register for a 20-minute time slot.
