Lake County Commissioner Rich Sve Receives Association of Minnesota Counties’ President’s Award

(St. Paul, MN)— Lake County Commissioner Rich Sve received a 2023 Association of Minnesota Counties’ (AMC) President’s Award for years of dedicated service and exemplary leadership in county government. 2023 AMC President and Ramsey County Commissioner Mary Jo McGuire selected Sve to receive this honor.

The prestigious President’s Award is presented to an individual who has a deep history of public service to their community and to their county.

Commissioner Sve continually works to strengthen and advance the AMC. He serves on approximately 20 local committees, many of which deal with land use, natural resources, energy, and the environment. Sve has held many leadership positions at AMC, including policy committee chair, subcommittee chair, District Director, Futures Task Force member, and numerous other committee leadership positions. Sve, who was association president during the COVID-19 pandemic, is one of only two commissioners in the association’s 115-year history to serve two terms as AMC president.

“Rich Sve is thoughtful, steady, and generous with time and knowledge,” said McGuire. “I trust him, and I know that others do, too.”

AMC is a voluntary statewide organization that assists the state’s 87 counties in providing effective county governance to the people of Minnesota. The association works closely with the legislative and administrative branches of government to ensure that legislation and policies favorable to counties are enacted. In addition, the Association provides educational programs, training, research, and communications for county officials.
