Bikepacking Minnesota’s Border-to-Border Touring Route

Local photographer Bryan Hansel will present his ten-day gravel-grinding adventure.

Grand Marais, MN, February 20, 2024 — The Grand Marais Public Library will host a presentation from Bryan Hansel on his bikepacking tour, on Wednesday, March 13, from 7:00 – 8:00 PM.

Hansel will take the audience on a visual journey along his October 2023 bike-packing adventure across the proposed Minnesota Border-to-Border Touring Route—the Off-Road Vehicle Route rejected by Cook County. Hansel embarked on a ten-day, 625-mile odyssey from Pembina, ND to Silver Bay on Lake Superior. Through a compelling blend of photos, stories, and personal impressions, Hansel will share the highlights and challenges of his ride. The presentation promises a glimpse into the diverse landscapes, local stories, and spirit of exploration that defined this unique journey. Stick around for a Q&A session at the end to dive deeper into the details of this off-the-beaten-path expedition.

This event is free and for all ages, but it is best suited for ages 10 and up. Seating will begin at 6:30 PM, so come early to find the best seats. Non-alcoholic drinks with lids are welcome. This event takes place during library operating hours, so our clerks will be on hand to check books out to patrons during the presentation.

In other news, the library is continuing its Winter Reading Program through the end of March for adults only. Prize drawings for kids will happen on March 1. For more information about this ongoing program, call the library at 218-387-1140 or visit their website: www.grandmaraislibrary.org.
