Cooperative Light & PowerCEO Joel Janorschke Announces Resignation

Two Harbors, MN – May 5, 2025 – Cooperative Light & Power (CLP) announces the resignation of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Joel Janorschke, effective mid-June. Janorschke, who joined the cooperative in October 2022, has decided to step down after accepting a new role as CEO of Lake Region Electric Cooperative in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.

During his tenure at CLP, Janorschke focused on delivering safe, reliable energy to members while spearheading the development and implementation of a comprehensive Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) program. He collaborated with the CLP board to update and amend the CLP Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws and assisted the board in revising the CLP district boundaries. His leadership positioned the cooperative for long-term growth, sustainability, and reliability.

CLP’s Board of Directors will take the necessary steps to ensure leadership is in place following Janorschke’s departure, including the likely appointment of an interim CEO until a qualified candidate can be hired permanently. The Board and Janorschke are committed to working together toward a smooth transition and will keep members’ best interests at the forefront of their decision-making.

Both Janorschke and the Board are committed to working collaboratively to ensure a seamless transition, with the continued focus on maintaining the best interests of CLP members.

“Joel has been an outstanding leader at Cooperative Light & Power, and his dedication to the cooperative model has left a lasting impact. We appreciate his service and wish him all the best in his new role,” said Roger Peterson, Chair of CLP’s Board of Directors.

CLP remains committed to providing top-tier services to its members, and the Board will provide updates as necessary throughout the transition process.
