Gregory A. King, 73, of Finland, died Thursday, November 9, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
Greg was born January 20, 1950, to Percy and Violet (Robinson) King in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and grew up in Wisconsin and later Silver Bay, MN. After graduating from William Kelley High School in 1968, he entered the U. S. Army.
Greg proudly served his country as a wheeled vehicle maintenance mechanic in Vietnam and Cambodia until his discharge in 1971. He rode proudly with the Blackhorse; 11th Armored Cavalry- G troop. Returning to Silver Bay he went to work at Reserve Mining Company as a maintenance mechanic and later worked at Hedstrom Lumber Co for many years, and most recently, Wolf Ridge Learning Center until his retirement.
Greg was an avid hunter and fisherman and passed that passion on to his children and grandchildren. While time with his family and enjoying the outdoors were his greatest joy, he also enjoyed playing pool with the guys in a local league.
Greg is survived by his wife, Sheree; a daughter, Melissa King (Brian Hooey) and granddaughter, Ally; a son, Mathew (Melanie) King and grandchildren, Sean and Rylee; siblings, Marilynn (Bob) Willis, Diane (Kent) Lundahl, and Bill Franklin (Missy Lorntson); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
