MARGARET “PEG” WERNER (August 18, 1932 – November 8, 2023)

Margaret “Peg” Werner, 91, Two Harbors, MN and formerly of Bellev­ue and Toledo, Ohio, died Wednesday, No­vember 8, 2023, at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Two Har­bors, surrounded by her family.

She was born August 18, 1932, to Allen and Marguerite (O’Mara) Wilhelm in Ohio. She grew up in Bellevue, graduated from Bellevue High School in 1950 and St. Vin-cent School of Nursing in 1953. She was employed as a registered nurse at St. Vincent Hospital until retiring in 1987.

In Ohio, Peg was a member of St. Vincent’s Alumni Association, St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Rosary Society and was a Eucharist Minister.

She enjoyed hiking, needlework, and Cedar Point Amusement Park. Moving to Two Harbors in 2006 to be closer to her family, Peg was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church where she sang in the choir until age 89 and was a very active volunteer.

Peg was preceded in death by parents; first husband, Paul McMahon; second husband, Jack Werner; sisters, Joan Christian, and Mary Louise Abell; and brother, John D. Wilhelm.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Mike) Slago, Shawn (Kathy) McMahon and Susan Sonday; stepsons and daughter, Tim (Nancy) Werner, Charles (Beth) Werner, Robert Werner, and Diane Harroff; brother, Andrew (Agnes) Wilhelm; sister-in-law, Gerry Wilhelm; grandchildren, Maggie (Ryan Roe) McMahon, Patrick (Natalie) McMahon, Maire (Nate) Osterberg, John (Patricia) Slago, James (Jocelyn) Slago, Dan (Kaitlin) Sonday, Matt (Megan) Sonday, and Paul (Danielle Tikalsky) Sonday; 5 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Two Harbors. Burial at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Milan, Ohio at a later date.
