CARROLL L. “CAL” MICHAELSON

Carroll L. “Cal” Michaelson, 95, of Cambridge, MN, formerly of Lino Lakes and Two Harbors, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026 at his home.

Cal worked for Reserve Mining in Silver Bay. During a strike at Reserve Mining, Cal and his brother Al traveled to South Dakota and worked on construction of the Oahe Dam until mining operations resumed. Cal later spent many years as a postal carrier in Two Harbors and Duluth. He was a longtime member of Duluth Branch 114 of the National Association of Letter Carriers and was recognized in 2022 for 60 years of continuous membership.

Cal was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Phyllis S. Michaelson; his daughter, Michele Rohner; grandson Michael D. Peterson; 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis J. Michaelson; his children, Lynda (Doug) Peterson, Wesley “Wes” (Anna) Michaelson, Patty (Tom) Whitney, Naomi (Michael) Petko, Jim (Faith) Michaelson, Jack (Karen) Michaelson, and David (Cheryl) Michaelson; his stepchildren, John Bass, Ginny (Corey) Bustrom, and Dan Bass; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; his sister, Sharon (Jack) Johnson; his brother, Paul (Gloria) Michaelson; and many other relatives and friends.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or the Angel Tree ministry.

Funeral Service Noon, Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors, Monday, August 10, 2026 at 3:30PM. carlsonlillemoen.com
