November 24, 1932 – September 22, 2205
Frances Hammack took her last breath here and her first breath in heaven on Monday, September 22, 2025. She was born on November 24, 1932 to Elsie and Edwin Evenson of Larsmont, MN and is a graduate of Two Harbors High School, class of 1950. As a child, Frances attended Two Harbors Assembly of God Church. After graduation, she, her sister, Katherine, and several friends from her church attended North Central Bible College where she met and married her husband of 65 years, John W. Hammack. The couple worked shoulder to shoulder in pastoral ministry in Duluth and Beaver Bay Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. In addition to being the mother of three children and a busy pastor’s wife, Frances worked at various jobs and retired from court administration of St. Louis County. She has blessed her family and friends with the stability of her unconditional love, faithful prayers and deep faith in God; her generosity and warm hospitality; and with beautifully crocheted blankets, doilies and snowflakes.
Frances is survived by her children: Terry and Crys Hammack of Superior, WI; Trudy and Rob Ege of Elberta, AL; and Wanda and Bob Roller of Longview, TX; 10 grandchildren and a multitude of great grandchildren; her sister, Carol Evenson Hicks; sister-in-laws: Amy Hammack and Mary Hammack; in addition to many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her family is grateful for St. Luke’s Hospice and her long-time doctor, Dr. Timothy Kleinschmidt, the staff and residents of Faith Haven where she resided for the last 13 years, and to Heart to Heart Hospice in Longview, Texas for taking such good care of her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Second Harvest Food Bank.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors, followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery, then a luncheon at the Larsmont Little Red School House at 1 PM, 701 Larsmont Rd. Two Harbors, MN 55616.
