May 19, 2026- The Cook County Land Services Department is pleased to announce expanded public access to the Cook County Budget Shop beginning Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Beginning May 23, the Budget Shop will be open during the following hours: Monday through Friday: 12:30 p.m.–4:00 p.m. Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The expanded schedule is intended to provide additional opportunities for residents and visitors to access affordable reusable household goods and support local waste reduction efforts.
The Budget Shop accepts and resells reusable items diverted from the Recycling Center, helping extend the life of usable materials while reducing landfill waste. Items available at the Budget Shop may include furniture, household goods, décor, tools, books, and seasonal items.
“We are excited to restore regular Saturday availability at the Budget Shop,” said Neva Maxwell, Land Services Director for Cook County. “The Budget Shop plays an important role in waste reduction, reuse, and affordability within our community, and these expanded hours will help improve public access and operational consistency.”
The Budget Shop is located at the Cook County Recycling Center at 630 5th Ave W. Grand Marais, MN 55604.
