An exclusive pre-PBS broadcast screening with Producer Mick Caouette
Grand Marais, MN, April 8, 2024 — The Grand Marais Public Library is excited to screen the documentary MayÂor Humphrey of Minneapolis on Wednesday, April 17, from 6:00-8:30 PM.
Mayor Humphrey of MinneÂapolis was produced in 2023 to celebrate the 75th anniverÂsary of Humphrey’s historic civil rights speech at the NaÂtional Democratic Convention in July of 1948, and it will be broadcast on PBS stations naÂtionwide beginning in SeptemÂber.
Mick Caouette is an acclaimed documentary filmmaker who began his career in 1996, as an Associate Producer for two Court TV films, The Scottsboro Boys and The Capture and TriÂal of Adolph Eichmann. He recently produced Restore America with Bob Vila on HGTV.
Since 1999, Mick has proÂduced six independent films, three of which apÂpeared nationally on PBS. Hubert H. Humphrey: The Art of the Possible, Mr. Civil Rights: Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP, and SumÂmoned: Frances Perkins and the General Welfare are now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Producer Mick Caouette will lead a discussion after the film and anÂswer viewer quesÂtions. This movie is free and open to the pubÂlic. Doors will open at 5:30. Non-alcoholic drinks with lids are welcome.
In other news, the library is partnering with the Violence Prevention Center to screen Women Talking at 6:00 PM on April 19, with discussion led by Lindsey and Jessica, VPC advocates for victims and surÂvivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
