When I mentioned to Kiera Wilson that she seems to be a busy lady, she replied, “It’s been a crazy few months!” On January 13th, the Two Harbors Agates Mite Team manager reported that the Mite 2 hockey teams were part of the Twig Outdoor Hockey Classic Tradition Jamboree. On the weekend of January 19th, the Mite 1 teams had their turn in Twig.
The weather was pretty cold over those weekends, “But the players did absolutely amazing!” Kiera had stated at that time. “They skated hard and braved the cold temps/strong wind.”
The following weekend, the Two Harbors Agates Mite 1 teams hosted their home jamboree at the Sonju Arena. Twelve teams from Two Harbors, Silver Bay, Moose Lake, and Hermantown attended, each playing three games.
“There were 115 smiling kids out on our ice this weekend!” Kiera reported.
With all the experience the young hockey players have under their skates, they’ve made marked improvement in their abilities and have formed a deeper dedication to hockey.
“It’s great to see the progression of all the kids since the start of the season,” said Billy Wilson, Mite Coordinator. “Not just on our teams, but on the teams, we’ve played against throughout the season so far. You can tell these kids are getting hooked on the sport. There are always a lot of big smiles at the rink. I’m glad to see all the kids having fun.”
