BASEBALL

Two Harbors

The Agates picked up their first win since late April with a 5-4 victory over Cook County on May 11. The result followed a tough stretch that included two losses in a May 5 double header at Silver Bay and setbacks to Barnum, 6-0, and Moose Lake-Willow River, 16-0, on May 8.

They hosted Cherry on May 12, with results to be reported. They are scheduled to face Mesabi East at home on May 15.

Cook County

The Vikings fell to Mesabi East on May 8, 11-3, before dropping a close game to Two Harbors on May 11, 5-4.

Their next game is set for May 14 at North Woods.

Silver Bay

Silver Bay’s winning run continues. The Mariners swept Two Harbors in a May 5 double header, 24-14 and 19-1, improving to 9-2.

They were scheduled to play Barnum on May 12, with results to come. They face McGregor on May 15 before heading to a tournament in Ely later that day.

SOFTBALL

Cook County

The Vikings earned their first win of the season on May 4, defeating Stella Maris Academy 19-3. They were unable to carry that momentum forward, falling to McGregor 5-2 and dropping both games to Two Harbors on May 6. The Vikings also lost to Silver Bay on May 11.

Their final regular season game is scheduled for May 14 at North Woods.

Two Harbors

Two Harbors beat Cook County 26-3 and 13-1 on May 6. They then played a tight 6-5 game against Mesabi East on May 8 before falling to Silver Bay later that day, 18-6.

They were slated to face Floodwood on May 12, with results to be reported. They played Cromwell-Wright and McGregor on May 14.

Silver Bay

Silver Bay’s streak remains intact. The Mariners defeated Ely 4-2 on May 5, then topped Two Harbors 18-6 on May 8.

They beat Cook County 14-2 on May 11. Their May 12 game against Barnum took place after press time. Silver Bay closes the regular season against Hibbing on May 15.

TRACK

Two Harbors Agates Tommy DeChantal, Will Fransen, Joshua Maxwell, and Carter Nelson broke the school record in the 4×400 relay at the Matt Kero Memorial Invite on May 8.

Their time of 3:29.36 beat out the previous record time of 3:30.84 set in 2025. According to their Facebook page, this means they have also surpassed the 4×440 yard relay team from 1977. Their time, converted from yards to meters, was 3:30.1.

15 teams attended the Matt Kero Memorial Day Invite, including Silver Bay and Cook County. Funds raised from the event go to the Matt Kero Scholarship Fund.
