William Toivo Ahlbeck, 77, a life-long resident of Finland, died August 13, 2023 in St. Mary’s (Essentia) Hospital, Duluth. He was born February 26, 1946 to Toivo and Bernice (Johnson) Ahlbeck. He was employed at William Kelley School and then Reserve Mining until they shut down. He then worked for Allen Anderson Trucking and building silos in southern Minnesota before working for Cyprus and at North Shore Mining, eventually retiring from there. Willie enjoyed riding his Bombardier, visiting over coffee, cooking, eating breakfast at Our Place, and his family.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law – Joyce and Kevin Marble; brothers – Leslie and Richie; and nephew – Kevin Marble Jr.
He is survived by two sisters in law – Debbie and Crystal, both of Finland; three nephews – Clayton of International Falls, Christopher (Sarah) of Two Harbors, and Travis (Samantha) of Finland; one niece – Senja (Zack) of Finland; eight great nieces and nephews – Ashley, Jake, Brady, Kian, Gretta, Richie, Jemma, and Lena; two great, great nephews – Jaedon and Jace.
Willie had the best heart. He was very loved and is deeply missed. A celebration of life will be held at the Clair Nelson Center in Finland on September 30th at 1:00pm.
