William Raymond “Ray” Willow

William Raymond “Ray” Willow, 92, of Two Harbors, died Saturday, February 4, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

Ray was born March 25, 1930 to William and Lillian (Lake) Willow in Two Harbors, where he was a life-long resident. After high school he went to work for the DM&IR Railroad. His work was interrupted by being drafted into the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Baltimore, and three times was ordered to Korea, but orders were changed. Returing home he was again employed by the rail-road and retired as a carman in 1992 after 37 years. Ray was also self-employed as carpenter, and enjoyed building and remodeling homes for his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and dancing. Ray was a past member of the American Legion. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lyle; and sisters, Dorothy and Lorraine.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joan Alice Willow; children, Renae Willow, Julie (Larry Hardy) Larson, Nick (Kathleen) Willow, and Chad (Kim) Willow; grand-daughters, Ashly, Chelsy, Kelsey and June; great-grandchildren, Denali, Camila, Miguel, and Hadly; and brothers, Dean (Betty), and Vern.
