Tonya “Tony” Hanson, 59, Two Harbors, died Saturday, October 7, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital, s u r r o u n d e d by her family after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Tony was born December 19, 1963, to Glen and Sharon (Koski) Hanson in Duluth.
She grew up in Silver Bay and graduated from William Kelley High School in 1982. After her marriage to Michael Shepersky, she was a homemaker through the years while her family was growing and later worked in various occupations overcoming the challenges of being a single parent.
Her children were her greatest concern and her greatest joy. Having grown up on a family farm and logging business, she enjoyed her animals and woodworking.
In later years, she enjoyed traveling, especially to her brother’s home in Arizona. Tony was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kris Hanson.
She is survived by her children, Rachael (Ben) Sietsema, Rochelle Shepersky, Julia (Jamie) Robb, and Julian Shepersky; grandchildren, Blake, Ivory, Makayla, Nakia, Hailey, Dahlia, Macey, Josslyn, Evelyn, Abbigail, and Layne; brothers, Ron (Kim) Kofstad and Steven (Amy) Nopola; sister, Tammie Hanson; step-father, Howard Nopola; step-mother, Ingrid Hanson; her best friend, Jenny; special aunts; and many extended family and friends including Lyle and the Shepersky family.
