TAMMY R. CHURNESS (June 1, 1971 – August 18, 2023)

Tammy R. Churness, 52, of Two Harbors, passed away peacefully at home with her husband Aaron by her side on August 18th, 2023. Her positive attitude and will to live made an impression on everybody who knew her.

Tammy was born June 1, 1971 to Henry and Barbara (Young) Johnson from Wrenshall, where she grew up and graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1989. Tammy married Aaron Churness in 2002 and they lived in Cloquet, MN for 11 years. Tammy and Aaron moved to Two Harbors in 2008 where they raised their three children, Katelin, Alec and Emma. Tammy was blessed to spend time with her two grandchildren, Harlee (7) and Jalen (2).

Tammy held several jobs that she was proud of, including: The Interfaith Care Center in Carlton, The Lake View Clinic in Two Harbors, The Lake County Court House, and finally, working with her best friends at the Northshore Dental Office in Two Harbors.  She was involved with the Minnehaha PTA and loved her Agate Family as a football and cheer mom.

She is preceeded in death by her father, Henry Johnson, and her brother, Hankie Johnson.

Tammy is survived by her husband of 21 years, Aaron Churness; mother, Barbara Johnson; brothers, Brian Johnson and James Johnson; daughters, Katelin (Laine) Johnson and Emma Churness; son, Alec Churness; nephew, Tyler (Abby) Johnson; niece, Madison Olson; grandchildren, Harlee Johnson and Jalen Johnson; in-laws, Michael and Jaren Churness; Steve and Stacy Olson; her life long friend, Tracey Sigstad and special friends, Kirsten Komarek and Heidi Nelson.

The family would like to express a sincere “Thank you” to her medical staff at St. Luke’s Oncology, Infusion, Out Patient, Radiation Therapy and Interventional Radiology. The level of care and compassion that was provided to Tammy was above and beyond. She loved “Her People” that took care of her. A Celebration of Tammy’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29th, at the ADD Shrine Meeting & Event Center, located at 5152 Miller Trunk Highway, Hermantown, MN 55811.
