ROSE MARY SHEPERSKY (November 7, 1943 – August 30, 2023)

Rose Mary Shepersky, 79, of Two Harbors, died August 30, 2023, at her home with family at her side.

Rose was born November 7, 1943, to Lawrence and Ethel (Christenson) Kohmetscher in Litchfield, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended Catholic school. She met Lyle when he moved to town for work, and they married February 27, 1960. Lyle’s work brought them to Zim in 1965 and to the North Shore in 1978.

Rose was a homemaker through the years, raising their eight children, and after they were grown, she worked at Irresistible Ink for several years. Rose was always attentive, loving, and supportive of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was always looking forward to new additions; her first great great granddaughter, Serenity, was born the day before her passing.

Rose was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Silver Bay and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. She had a very strong faith and was involved in many church activities. She also was a member of the Women of the Moose, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and Knife River Valley Dance Club. Her many hobbies included cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, dancing, playing Bingo, reading, playing cards and games, and watching hummingbirds. Rose was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Terresina.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lyle; children, Gerald Shepersky, Valerie McQuade, Michael (Jodi) Shepersky, David Shepersky, Barbara (Philip) Schwalm, Sharon (Delton) Hodge, Mary (Gene) Mohs, and Cindy (Michael Jr) Rowlee; 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

She is also survived by her sisters, Lorna (Norman) Menken and Ruth (Larry) Sutter. An extra special thank you to the family members and St. Luke’s Hospice for honoring Rose’s wish to be at home.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
