PATRICIA (PATTY) ANN SEGA (December 12, 1951 – December 3, 2023)

Patricia (Patty) Ann Sega, 71, of Timnath, Colorado passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Mayo Clinic-Phoenix following complications from cancer surgery with her sons, husband, and siblings at her side.

Patty was born in Long Island, New York on December 12, 1951 to James Collins and Vivian (Clemons) Collins. In 1952, her mother Vivian moved Patty, her sister Ginny and brother Bobby to Phoenix following the death of Patty’s father. Patty attended Most Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School and Xavier College Preparatory. She is a graduate of Phoenix College School of Nursing and later completed her BS and MS in Nursing. Patty’s nursing career spanned 47 years, following her mother Vivian’s path who was a Lieutenant in the Army Nursing Corp during WWII.

After starting her nursing career at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Patty quickly gravitated to surgical nursing at Sun Health Boswell Hospital eventually as Director of Surgical Services and later helped open the Honor Health Thompson Peak Hospital Operating Room.

Patty met her soulmate, Joe, at Bobby McGee’s in Phoenix, which started their lifelong adventure together. Joe immediately fell in love with Patty’s son Sean and Patty and married June 13, 1986. In 1988, they added their son Casey, who completed their beautiful family.

Patty and Joe built their dream home in Timnath, CO where she spent her days taking her beloved dog Juno on long walks and frequent hikes at Rocky Mountain National Park. Patty loved the outdoors and experienced many travels and adventures, the last one being an excursion to Antarctica. In retirement, Patty loved her “Wordle”, her conversations with numerous Facebook friends and became a voracious reader.

Patty was kind, caring and compassionate, dedicated to her family and nursing. Patty was a humanitarian at heart having volunteered for two medical missions in Central America as well as dedicating her time in retirement to a medical clinic during COVID. Her kindness is an inspiration to family and friends. To know Patty is to love Patty.  She will be dearly missed by every person she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; sons, Sean (Amy) Jackson, and Casey Sega; sister Virginia (Lee) Smith; and brother Robert (Alma) Collins and Juno.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Phoenix. Donations may be made, In Tribute to Patty at Mayo Clinic. Designate: Other / Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Program.
