MARTHA “MARTY” L. PIERCE

December 19, 1950 – May 23, 2026

Martha “Marty” L. Pierce, 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23rd, at her home in Soldotna, Alaska, surrounded by her family. She lost her brave battle with lung cancer.

She was born on December 19th, 1950, to Carl and Lillian Lind in Two Harbors, Minnesota, and grew up in Castle Danger, Minnesota.

Martha became a CNA and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth until moving to Alaska in 1977, where she continued her career at Central Peninsula Hospital.

In 1982, she retired from her CNA work to become a homemaker and mother. She later returned to the medical field as a home health nurse until her full retirement in 1990.

Martha enjoyed bowling, basket making, cross-stitching, baking, and doing crafts with all of her grandchildren and “adopted” grandchildren. She loved them all deeply. She also loved teaching Bible School at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna, and later at Sterling Lutheran. Fellowship brought her joy – whether at church, neighborhood bonfires, or Christmas gatherings.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Lillian Lind; her brother, Carl John Lind; and her sister, Barbara Anderson.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin; her children, Crystal (Nathen) Silver and Carl (Christina) Pierce; her granddaughters, Evelyn and Iris Pierce; her siblings, William (Pam) Lind and Carol Nordahl; her honorary daughter Jana (PJ) Focose, many nieces and nephews; and numerous other honorary family members who lovingly called her Mom, Sister, Aunt, or Grandma.

Services will be held at Star of the North Lutheran Church in Kenai at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with a luncheon downstairs at the Church following the service.
