Lois Cavallin, 94, died Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Lakeview Hospital. Lois was born September 28, 1930, the first child of Russell and Lura (Ruff) Peterkin in Columbus, Ohio. Her father had come to Ohio from Virginia, Minnesota to attend Ohio State University, and there met and married her mother, from a small town nearby. The family moved to Virginia, where Lois attended schools, graduating in 1948. After attending Virginia Junior College, she worked for several years in Virginia. In 1954 she married Paul Cavallin and moved to Two Harbors, where she was a homemaker through the years, raising their five children.
Lois was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. After Paul’s retirement, they spent many winters in Florida, where she enjoyed the warm weather, swimming, and time with friends. Her greatest joy was time spent with family, especially summer picnics and Christmas Day.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Audrey Oberstar.
She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Paul; daughters, JoAnn (Jim) Mattson of Two Harbors, and Linda (Roger) Jepson of Apple Valley; sons, Alan “Butch” (Sandy), Ken (Julie), Jerry (Barb) all of Two Harbors; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Two Harbors. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery.
