LEE A. (SPARKY) WICK (January 7, 1957 – June 22, 2024)

Lee Wick, 67, of Maple Grove, Minnesota died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

He was born on January 7, 1957 to Donald and Jane (Pontow) Wick in Duluth, MN and grew up in Castle Danger on the shore of Lake Superior.

Affectionately known as “Sparky”, by both family and friends, he grew up enjoying the outdoors at “Ole’s Acres” and Gooseberry Falls State Park with his siblings and friends. Sparky was an avid bird watcher, keeping a journal as he watched them over the years from his deck.

Lee graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1975 where he excelled in both academics and sports. In 1976 he married his high school sweetheart, Debbie, and joined the Army. After his service, Lee went on to begin his career in finance in February 1972 starting with Household Retail Services working his way up to Assistant Vice President/Major Account Executive.

After many moves with his employment, the family settled in Maple Grove, MN where Lee became a volunteer for the Optimist Club, helping in the positive service projects in his community aimed at helping youth.

Sparky is survived by Debbie (L’Esperance) Wick, his wife of 48 years: daughter Leigh Ann and son, Olaf, three grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: Mother, Jane Wick and siblings Brian (Kathryn) Wick, Pamela (Mark) Shere, Bart (Isabel) Wick and Melissa (Dale) Carlson.

Lee was preceded in death by his Dad, Donald “Dub” Wick, grandparents, his niece Jana Wick and numerous cousins. We will all miss his zest for life and the history he shared along with his jokes, all with a great smile!

In honor of his wishes, Lee will be laid to rest at Ft Snelling National Cemetery in a private service and a family Celebration of Life in Castle Danger.
