John Leroy Hanson, 72 of Buhl, passed away on June 4, 2025, surrounded by his family. John was born in Bagley, MN on April 10,1953, to Cleo and Alvin Hanson. John grew up on the Iron Range going to school in Mt. Iron, and graduated from Buffalo, MN in 1971.
John spent the majority of his years working in the service industry as a mechanic. John enjoyed fishing, camping, tinkering around in his own garage, watching racing, baseball and football, but most of all, John loved spending time with his family, fur babies, and close friends.
John was proceeded in death by his parents, Al and Cleo; sisters, Debbie, Connie, Karen; brother, Donny; nephew, Aaron and nieces, Dawn and Barb.
John will be deeply missed by his love of 26 years, wife, Katherine Tikkanen of Buhl; daughters, Rochelle Hanson and Lori (Jason) Foucault both of Eveleth and Kelly (Rich) Sather of Fayal; grandchildren, Tyler Hanson, Allie Sather, Catalina De La Cruz, and Abigail Sather; great-grandchildren, SkyAnn Hanson and Stevie Hanson; sisters, Yvonne Kaivola of Gilbert and Kathy Carlson of Iron; sister-in-law, Peggy Hanson of Cherry, several nieces and nephews and his precious fur babies, Cleo and Sassy.
