Geraldine (Gerry) Esther Thompson, 93, passed away on January 13th, 2023.
Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Thompson; parents Don and Esther Erickson; son, David Thompson; daughter, Sarah Barnes. Survived by her sister Jackie Goldschmidt, brothers John Erickson, Don Erickson; children, Kathy (Mike) Hanson, Laura (Gary) Erickson, Dan (Bernadette) Thompson, Jay (Laurie) Thompson, and a plethora of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A lover of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Gerry showed all the attributes of being filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave all that she had without expectation of return. She created an atmosphere of love and acceptance to all who entered her home. As a wife to her loving husband, Ray, she took care of him during his long downward spiral with Alzheimer’s lasting a decade. As a mother, teacher, and friend she was a blessing to anyone who knew her and even to those who didn’t.
Graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College; substitute taught in Bloomington and Minnetonka school districts as needed while raising six children; played violin in several city orchestras; supervised kitchen at Northfield Retirement Center; catered weddings, funerals and other special occasions; taught Norwegian rug-hooking in Northfield; managed Norsk Kubbe Hus bed and breakfast with her husband; quilted in Beaver Bay quilting group; faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Silver Bay; worked as voting Judge in Silver Bay, and folded newspapers part-time.
Funeral service, 2:00 PM Monday, January 23rd, at Bethel Church, 2361 N Hastings Way, Eau Claire, WI with visitation 1 hour prior. Memorial service held at Faith Lutheran Church on Friday, February 3rd at 1:00 PM, Interment: Silver Bay Cemetery, Silver Bay, MN.
