Donald Sunde, 77, of Two Harbors died Sunday, March 23, 2025, at his daughter’s home in St. Paul. Don was born December 23, 1947, to Alfred and Ruth (White) Sunde in Duluth and grew up in Knife River and rural Duluth. After high school he served in the U S Navy for six years aboard a nuclear submarine. Returning to Minnesota he was employed for ten years on the Iron Range as an electrician in the mines. Later followed a long career in Washington, Idaho and Oregon retiring from Bonneville Power, and later as a consultant for Par Construction.
A generous donor to Christian organizations, he enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, trapping and fishing.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Linda; a son, Michael Sunde; grandsons, Joe and James Gillis; and brothers, Willard, Larry and Richard.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth (Sean) Gillis, grandchildren, Krys (Kendra) McLaughlin, Sarah (Austin) Motsinger, Katelyn (Dannon) Hauser, Justin Sunde, Amanda and Libby; great-grandchildren, Grace and Alex and Faye; and a brother, Philip.
