The Lake County Planning Commission sat in session at 5:00 p.m. on this date and conducted hearings and other business.

I-24-003r– Motion by Sve support­ed by Ellefson to recommend to County Board 5-year approval with conditions of a renewal interim use application for a vacation rental home filed by John and Karen Adams at 603 Scenic Dr., Two Har­bors MN 55616. The property is described as: That part of Lot 2 lying N of N Right of Way Line DM & IR RR Right of Way Line, in Section 16, Township 52, Range 11 6.7 acres, zoned zoned shoreland; RC/Resort Commercial district, 2-acre minimum, Un­organized Territory #2 Township. PID 25- 5211-16880. Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, and Ellefson voting in favor; none opposed. (PCR-24-003)

Motion car­ried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, and Ellefson vot­ing in favor; none opposed. (PCR-24-004)

Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, and Ellefson voting in favor; none opposed. (PCR-24-005)

I-24-006i– Motion by Bathke supported by Ellefson to recommend to County Board 1-year approval, with conditions, of an ini­tial interim use application for a vacation rental home filed by Taylor and Charissa Hall at 960 Deerview Lane, Two Harbors MN 55616. The property is described as: N 300ft of SW 1/4 of SE 1/4 less W 660 ft in Section 9, Township 52, Range 11 5.0 acres, zoned zoned non-shoreland; R-2/ Residential District; 5 acre minimum, Un­organized Territory #2 Township. PID 25- 5211-09860. Motion failed; Bathke voting in favor, Hoops, Sve, and Ellefson voting opposed. (PCR-24-006)

C-24-001 The conditional use applica­tion filed by St. Louis and Lake Counties Regional Railroad Authority (RRA) and the Knife River Heritage Cultural Cen­ter (KRHCC) requesting construction of a multi-purpose gathering space with a focus on the community’s railroad history, and Scandinavian culture through exhib­its featuring the commercial fishing boat, “CRUSADER II” and the Viking ship, “LEIF ERIKSON” at 180 Marine Rd., Knife River MN 55609 was withdrawn. C-24-002– Motion by Sve supported by Ellefson to table discussion for the condi­tion use application filed by Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary requesting construction of a nature-based retreat center with a focus on Black, Indigenous, and people of color with lodging for 32 people that will host occasional community events at 2792 Clark Rd., Two Harbors MN 55616. The property is described as: N 1/2 of N 1/2 of SW 1/4, Section 27, Township 54 Range 10 West of the Fourth Principal Meridia; 40 acres, shoreland; R-1/Residential District; 10 acre minimum, Silver Creek Township. PID 29-5410-27550 / 27490. The hearing will reconvene during the regularly scheduled Planning Commission meet­ing on April 15, 2024 at 5pm in the Lake County Lake Enforcement Center, 613 Third Ave, Two Harbors, MN 55616.

Motion by Sve supported by Bathke to approve the February 26, 2024, minutes with corrections. Motion carried; Hoops, Sve, Bathke, and Ellefson voting in favor; none opposed.
