The “BYOB Bash,” short for “Bring Your Own Ballot Bash, takes place Saturday, October 17, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Cook County Library. Organized by the local chapter of Arrowhead Indivisible, the free, family-friendly event aims to build community connections and turn civic duty into a festive occasion. Local residents are invited to bring their appetite, dance steps, and sealed ballots for a nonpartisan celebration of early voting.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive with their completed, sealed mail-in or absentee ballots. After two hours of food, games, and music, participants will walk together to the Cook County Courthouse to drop their ballots into the official drop box.
The “Bash” features complimentary chili, cornbread, and cupcakes. Lawn games like cornhole and giant Jenga will be set up alongside face painting, a mock ballot box where children can practice voting, and a mascot contest with patriotic duck prizes. Volunteers will be on hand to offer clear, judgment-free information on the local voting process.
Organizers emphasize that the gathering is nonpartisan and open to all voters, regardless of political persuasion.
“The event is not about arguing politics,” the group shared in a statement. “It is about building community and reminding each other that voting is something we can share, celebrate, and take pride in.”
There is no charge for this event.
