11th District State Bar Association Scholarship Available

The 11th District Minnesota State Bar Asso­ciation will award two nonrenewable $2,000 scholarships for 2024. The deadline for sub­mission is March 1, 2024.

Each scholarship will be awarded to a 2024 graduating high school senior who will begin post-secondary education at a community, technical, or four-year college or university in 2024. The student must demonstrate a gen­uine academic and career interest in law, our criminal justice system, or a related field. The Scholarship is not limited to students who plan to be an attorney.

Applicants must be Lake, Cook, Carlton, or South St. Louis County residents.

The Scholarship Committee utilizes the fol­lowing criteria in awarding each scholarship:

  • Plan of study
  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and leadership potential
  • Strength of character
  • Financial need.

A minimum grade point average is not re­quired. The Scholarship Committee requires information regarding any other scholarships awarded to the applicant.

Each applicant must submit a completed application, an academic transcript, and a personal statement regarding their future ac­ademic and career plans and financial needs. Applications and supporting documents should be typewritten. Applicants are encour­aged to submit any supporting information they believe will help the Scholarship Com­mittee evaluate their application.

The Scholarship will be paid to the recip­ient’s college financial aid office in two in­stallments (half each semester) upon receipt of verification of registration.

The Scholarship Committee asks that the school counselors make applications avail­able to interested students. The deadline for the application is March 1, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. Applications postmarked after this date shall not be considered.
