There are book lovers on the North Shore and that was more than demonstrated by the success of the recent Friends of the Two Harbors Public Library’s (FOTHPL/Friends) book sales. The Friends are grateful to all who have visited the sales, shared their stories and bought books. The funds generated from book sales are used to promote excellence in our library through the support of staff, services and programs.
Castle Danger’s innovative Makers’ Market on April 20th drew crowds from all over, and among them were reading enthusiasts who purchased from the Friends’ sale. Visiting with the people who come to shop was another plus as they discussed their favorite authors and genres. At the April sale, Joe Friedrichs, a local author, introduced himself and talked about his newest book, LAST ENTRY POINT, stories of danger and death in the boundary waters, which will be highlighted in an author talk at the Two Harbors Public Library on June 27 from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Castle Danger has been very supportive of the Library to include the Friends in their Market. Their next Market will be held in July with another opportunity to purchase used books, DVDs, CDs, and puzzles.
On May 9-11, Lake View Aspirus Hospital welcomed the Friends of the Two Harbors Public Library to use the Conference Room for their semi-annual sale. The FOTHPL is grateful to the Hospital for welcoming and accommodating the book sales. Display tables filled the room and tempted young and old alike with their wares. Books flew into people’s arms and bags and welcomed funds tallied up for support of the Two Harbor’s Public Library’s equipment needs, program supplies and author talks. Old Friends renewed memberships and new Friends joined to support the great resources and relationships that come with being united in the Friends of the Library’s vision to expand reading opportunities while furthering knowledge.
On May 28, the Friends of the Library will be have a 25 cent book sale in the Two Harbors Library conference room from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to pick up a good read and visit with like minded friends.
The Friends of the Two Harbors Public Library are grateful to all who have supported their sales and the financial contribution their customers make to aid in resources of the library.
