Tettegouche State Park’s 3rd Annual Winter Fest

Winter has arrived on the north shore just in time for the Friends of Tettegouche State Park’s 3rd Annual WINTER FEST to be held on Saturday, February 17th, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the park’s Visitor Center, located at 5702 Hwy. 61, Silver Bay, MN 55614.

The Friends of Tettegouche have lots of family friendly activities planned for you to enjoy: Snowshoe hike with Naturalist, Kurt Mead; Ojibway Winter Activities Presentation by Naturalist Roger James; Children’s Storytime with Eileen Anselment; Music by Shore Thing; Snow Snakes Racing Game; Winter Obstacle Course; Crafts; S’mores; Hot Cider & Popcorn and Johnny B’s Food Truck.

Visitors to the event planning to go on the snowshoe hike should bring along their own snowshoes. For those who do not have their own equipment, there is a limited supply of snowshoes available for check out at the park. Please arrive around 10:30AM to get ready to head out at 11:00 AM.

The Presentation by Grand Portage Naturalist, Roger James, will begin at 11:00 AM and then again at 2:00 PM. The presentation will focus on Ojibway winter activities, one of which is snow snake racing. New to the event this year will be a snow snake race area located on the lake side of the visitor center, where you will also find a fun winter obstacle course, pinecone birdseye feeder craft and s’mores by the outdoor fireplace.

Visitors are welcome inside to warm up with some hot cider and popcorn, or check out Johnny B’s food truck (parked out front of the visitor center) for something tasty to eat and bring it inside to enjoy while you listen to music provided by Shore Thing.
