After many years of great collaboration between the Lake County Service Center and the Silver Bay Food Shelf, we are sad to announce that the Silver Bay Food Shelf will have to reduce its hours of access to its service. The changes that the county has experienced with increases in basic service access online and a decrease of in-person requests for services, as well as a tighter budget due to recent federal and state legislation, have impacted them and have initiated this change.
The Silver Bay Food Shelf has been in existence since 1984 and will continue to provide services with decreased hours of operation. Although this means access to the food shelf will no longer be five days every week, it is more aligned with services being offered by the other eight communities under the AEOA umbrella.
In July the Silver Bay Food Shelf will be open for distribution:
- Monday, July 6 12:00 – 2:00
- Tuesday, July 7 11:00 – 2:00
- Tuesday, July 21 11:00 – 2:00
If one of the other local food shelves complies better with your schedule, you can access their services.
- Two Harbors, Tuesdays 10:00 – 3:45
- Grand Marais, Mondays 3:00 – 5:00 and 1st Wednesday 4:30 – 6:30
- Ely, 3rd Wednesday 11:00 – 5:00 and the following Saturday 8:00 – 11:00
