Libby Althaus Receives Lake County 4-H’er of the Year Award

Libby Althaus was presented the 2022 Lake County 4-H’er of the Year Award at a special ceremony during the Lake County Fair. Libby’s award included a trophy and a cash prize. Lake County Chamber of Commerce and Harbor Insurance sponsored the 4-H’er of the Year Award.

4-H youth in grades 9 and up are eligible to be nominated for the 4-H’er of the Year Award. The award is “to recognize their accomplishments in and out of 4- H,” says Tracey Anderson, Lake County’s Extension Educator for 4-H Youth Development. Youth can be nominated for the award by their 4-H Club Leaders, their families, or they can nominate themselves. The nomination process includes a form to be filled out and submitted, along with a summary of the nominee’s achievements and contributions to leadership and community service both in and out of 4-H.

Althaus, a senior in high school, is an active member of the Silver Creek 4-H Club. She is the current President of the Lake County 4-H Federation and a member of the Horse Project Committee.

A passion for horseback riding has led Althaus to the Minnesota 4-H State Horse Show five years and this year. She will be riding in the show from September 16- 19 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Congratulations, Libby, for receiving Lake County’s 4-H’er of the Year Award! We’re looking forward to hearing about more of your 4-H achievements.
