Screen Time by Design: Take control of your digital habits

Grand Marais, MN, November 3, 2026 – The Grand Marais Public Library is pleased to present Screen Time By Design with Health and Wellness Coach Hartley Newell-Acero on Wednesday, November 18, at 6:00 p.m. Designed for ages 12 and up, this program will help attendees build healthier digital habits and discover how the library can reconnect them with reading.

Newell-Acero will help attendees understand their digital habits and learn strategies to manage their social media use. Participants will learn about digital use in the US and how to assess their personal use. Participants will choose the changes they’d like to make on their digital use and explore library resources that can help them do that.

Participants will then reconvene on Tuesday, December 8 at 6p.m. to discuss what they’ve been reading and further develop their personal designs for their screen time.

Newell-Acero brings an academic background in psychology, behavioral science, and fitness and human performance to her work as a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and Lifestyle Medicine Coach. She also has training in exercise physiology, nutrition, stress management, and hypnotherapy. Her approach considers both individual habits and the environments that shape them, helping people identify practical, sustainable changes that support their well-being.

The Grand Marais Public Library increases knowledge, inspires creativity, removes barriers, and builds community across Cook County. In other news, the library will be hosting writing workshops with author Brian Malloy starting with Holiday Reading as Writers on December 9 at 6pm.
