Winter film series is back
Grand Marais, MN, December 21, 2023- The Grand Marais Public Library will be hosting Friday Night Reels, a unique film series showing weekly on Fridays at 6 PM, with the first screening on January 5 and the last on March 8. The library’s film committee has selected ten independent and foreign films in order to inspire thoughtful discussion after each.
This year’s first film is The Fall (rated R), which is about a stuntman and a little girl who meet in a hospital, both having suffered severe injuries after a fall. The stuntman befriends her and tells her an adventure story of heroes, myths, and villains on a desert island. The story, however, is just a trick to manipulate the girl into helping him do something terrible….
The Friday Night Reels are for adult audiences and may not be suitable for young viewers. For foreign films, the series will display English subtitles, instead of dubbing. Visit www.grandmaraislibrary.org for a full list of films. Weather cancellations will appear ahead of screenings on the library’s website, as well.
No sign-up is required to attend, but seating is limited. The doors will open at 5:30 PM. The library’s sponsor and community partner, the Library Friends of Cook County, will provide light snacks and beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages with lids are welcome.
Grand Marais Public Library thanks the Library Friends of Cook County for their generous and continued support in providing this program. The Grand Marais Public Library increases knowledge, inspires creativity, removes barriers, and builds community across Cook County.
