Area Farmers and Food Producers Invited to Field Tour at Good Nature Farm

Grand Marais, MN. (6/27/2024)— University of Minnesota Extension is partnering with the Lake Superior Chapter of the Sustainable Farming Association and the local Northwoods Food Project to host a field tour in August at Good Nature Farm.

The field tour will take place on Friday August 9th from 1-4 pm. Participants will meet at the farm field located on the right-hand side of Casper’s Hill Road in Grand Marais just before fire number 122. After touring this field, we’ll proceed as a group to the family farmstead further up Caspter’s Hill Road. There is no fee to attend the field tour. Advance registration is requested, however walk-ups are welcome.

Attendees will meet farmers Nick and Kristin DeArruda Wharton and connect with fellow local farmers and producers. “Meeting and learning from fellow farmers and local food producers is a great way for both beginning and established producers to gain insights into growing food in our region”, says Local Extension Educator Sarah Waddle.

To register for the tour, visit z.umn.edu/GoodNatureFieldTour.  Questions about the event can be directed to the Cook County Extension Office at 218-387-3015 or swaddle@umn.edu.
