Grand Marais, MN – Empty Bowls is pleased to announce that during last month’s annual Chowder Feed, volunteers served over 240 people and raised $4,200 to support reducing food insecurity throughout Cook County and Grand Portage. A huge thank you to North House Folk School, which hosted and organized the event, raised the funds, and donated them to Empty Bowls.
The event featured a wide variety of offerings provided by generous local businesses. Special thanks go out to Hungry Hippy Tacos, Coho Cafe at Bluefin Bay, Cascade Lodge, Angry Trout, Fisherman’s Daughter, Gunflint Lodge, Cook County Co-op, Double D’s Catering, Voyageur Brewing, Crosby Bakery, and Beth’s Fudge for making the event possible.
Funds raised during events like the Chowder Feed help support organizations that distribute food to those who need it, including 45 grants to nonprofits and schools across Cook County and the Grand Portage community just in the last year alone.
This successful effort would not have been possible without the community and visitors who attended the event, which takes place during the annual Wooden Boat Show.

Mark your calendar for the upcoming annual Fall Soup Fundraiser, taking place on Tuesday, September 22, at the Cook County Community Center. Lunch will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
