KBJR 6 & CBS 3 Joining Forces as Northern News Now

DULUTH, MN (September 26, 2022) – KBJR is continuing its commitment to comprehensive local news coverage in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan by announcing the combination of KBJR 6 and CBS 3 into a single team: Northern News Now. To better impact its viewers’ appetite for local news and weather, Northern News Now will deliver over 25 hours of original local newscasts weekly on its NBC and CBS affiliate stations. This move makes Northern News Now the largest newsroom in the Duluth/Superior television market and allows for local newscasts at new times on CBS: 4PM and 6:30PM on weekdays.

“Every move we’re making in regards to our news product is research based. In fact, some of the most important guidance comes directly from our viewer’s own comments and opinions. Local television viewing today centers on live, local programming with a commitment to community. It is our mission to continue to deliver the information that our viewers have grown to rely on,” says Todd Wentworth, Northern News Now VP/General Manager.

“The 4:00pm and 6:30pm newscasts on CBS are great times to see local news due to the busy and varied schedules people have nowadays,” says Matt McConico, Northern News Now News Director. “Along with more opportunities to see local news, the 6:30PM newscast will feature daily stories from our group’s award-winning investigative reporting team. Their investigative work has changed laws and made people’s lives safe. I believe our news customers will truly appreciate their work,” McConico continues.
