Area Bar Association to Award $2,000 Scholarships

The 11th District Minnesota State Bar Asso­ciation will award two nonrenewable $2,000 scholarships for 2024. The deadline for sub­mission is March 1, 2024.

Each scholarship will be awarded to a 2024 graduating high school senior who will begin post-secondary education at a community, technical, or four-year college or university in 2024. The student must demonstrate a gen­uine academic and career interest in law, our criminal justice system, or a related field. The Scholarship is not limited to students who plan to be an attorney.

Applicants must be Lake, Cook, Carlton, or South St. Louis County residents.

The Scholarship Committee utilizes the following criteria in awarding each scholarship:

• Plan of study

• Academic performance

• Demonstrated leadership and leadership potential

• Strength of character

• Financial need.

A minimum grade point average is not required. The Scholarship Committee requires information regarding any other scholarships awarded to the applicant.

Each applicant must submit a completed application, an academic transcript, and a personal statement regarding their future academic and career plans and financial needs. Appli­cations and supporting documents should be typewritten. Applicants are encouraged to sub­mit any supporting information they believe will help the Scholarship Committee evaluate their application.

The Scholarship will be paid to the recipi­ent’s college financial aid office in two install­ments (half each semester) upon receipt of ver­ification of registration.

The Scholarship Committee asks that the school counselors make applications available to interested students. The deadline for the application is March 1, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. Appli­cations postmarked after this date shall not be considered.
